Mason Bee Workshop
Posted by Kiera Floor on
Join local gardener, woodworker & native pollinator enthusiast Joe Ciccone for this introductory Mason Bee Workshop. Joe will demonstrate how to clean, dry & store the cocoons as well as how to prepare the colony for the upcoming season. We'll also learn how to "candle" the cocoons to inspect for parasites. Hands-on participation is encouraged!
Joe became interested in mason bees when he learned of their benefits to apple tree and berry crop pollination and production. He makes his own mason bee colonies (available for sale at the farm stand) and has improved on traditional designs for easier maintenance.
The only thing people need to bring is their curiosity!
